Welcome to the latest edition of the newsletter which brings together updates from across our networks.  We hope you enjoy reading about the different projects and activities.

Don't forget to book your place at the Annual National LLN Conference which will be held 22-23 November in Manchester. An All-Age Answer to Vocational Progression to HE

South and West London LLNs, Aimhigher (WECAN) London West, Central & North and Aimhigher London South and Kingston University have written a paper entitled ‘An All-Age Answer to Vocational Progression to Higher Education: the future role for Aimhigher and Lifelong Learning Networks’. To launch this paper an event is being held on Wednesday 13th October at the House of Lords. The event is sponsored by Kingston University and South London LLN will be opened by Sir Peter Scott, Vice Chancellor of Kingston University.

There is currently almost no Higher Apprenticeship provision across the PSC partnership , and all of our university partners are now selecting institutions rather than recruiting – so what chance of progression for apprentices here? Our view is that with the increasing competition for higher education level provision, apprentices need the services of LLNs more than ever. Consequently we have a full Action Plan of 17 areas of work for 2010/11, which ranges from the identification of target cohorts (including Level 3 students in colleges, employees in our universities and colleges, and employees in local authorities, the health service and construction) to employing an Apprentice Administrative Assistant ourselves...
